Miller County JP reports ‘largest carryover ever’
CHM has been providing inmate medical services to the Miller County Jail since March of 2009. According to the District 6 Justice of the Peace, Ernest Pender, the unpaid medical bills for the Sheriff’s Department were only $10,000 compared to $178,000 the previous year.
SecureCare, Inc., a subsidiary of Correctional Healthcare Companies, has been awarded a new contract to provide inmate healthcare services at the Ogemaw County Jail in West Branch, Michigan. The contract will begin on March 1, 2010.
Correctional Healthcare Management (CHM), a subsidiary of Correctional Healthcare Companies, has been awarded a new contract to provide inmate pharmacy services at the Wichita County Jail in Wichita Falls, Texas. According to county officials, the pharmacy services provided by CHM will result in a savings of approximately $200,000, a 56% reduction in annual inmate pharmacy costs for the county.
Crawford County recently approved an increase in Health Professionals, Ltd., a subsidiary of Correctional Healthcare Companies, contract to provide professional and responsive health services to inmates in the Crawford County Justice Center through July 31, 2010.
W.F. Sheriff's Dept. May Update Medical Records System
Correctional Healthcare Management (CHM), a subsidiary of Correctional Healthcare Companies, has chosen Wichita County as a beta test site for its electronic medical records system. This is a technologically advanced archive designed to store thousands of documents related to inmate health care on a single server. A final deal with the County and CHM could be accomplished in the next few weeks.
Wisconsin's LaCrosse County Amends HPL Jail Contract
The La Crosse County Judiciary and Law Committee has amended its contract with Health Professionals, Ltd. (HPL) for healthcare in the La Crosse County Jail. A 2.5 percent inflationary increase was added to the total along with the addition of a nurse practitioner for four hours a week. County Administrator Steve O’Malley said HPL has shown a willingness to work with the county to improve jail health care.
Youngstown’s Mahoning County Approves HPL Contract
The Mahoning County commissioners of Youngstown, Ohio have approved the final year of Health Proffesionals, LTD.’s (HPL) four-year contract for health services at all county jails. The contract covers medications for inmates and the services of personnel who provide the care, including a physician, a dentist, a psychiatrist and 22 nurses.
The Mahoning County Jail has an inmate population that fluctuates between 500 and 550 inmates.
